Daniel Friedman and Shai Kleinmintz have completed the final year engineering project and developed an autonomous navigator drone that uses only computer vision. In the future the olfactory (odor) sensor system will replace the computer vision (on board) and allow the drone to find odor sources spread by turbulent flows.
This work is a second round of final year projects, last year developed by Nimrod Benelli and Roman Linkov. It also an engineering research direction, following the research thesis of Yiftach Golov who recently completed his Ph.D. candidacy exam.
