Erosion in solid-propellant rocket engines

Erosion in rocket nozzles and engines is an important problem relating to safety, performance and the expenses of space travel. We are not able to study this problem in very realistic environment, as it requires an enormous investment in the infrastructure. So far we could study one aspect of this problem - the motion of highly inertial particles in high speed air flow in a rocket nozzle model.
