Our lab at the 1st European Fluid Dynamics Conference

There have been Fluid Dynamics conferences in Europe before 2024 :). In the past, two concurrent conferences were held, such as the European Turbulence Conference (ETC) and the European Turbulence Fluid Flow Measurements and Modelling (ETMM), which took place in cities like Barcelona and Seville. In 2023, there was an overlap of one day between the two conferences, forcing attendees to choose between attending the last day of one or the first day of the other. Fortunately, the organizers noted the issue and adjusted the schedule accordingly.

So now there is a joint conference of the two communities (it's not the same community, but we'll need to learn to meet together, like the APS DFD meeting) in the EFDC.

This year, the first EFDC, tagged as EFDC-1 or EFDC2024, was organized at the RWTH in Aachen, Germany. The next one is in 2025 in Dublin (links below).

Dr Ivan Litvinov and I represented our lab; see below how happy we were there (till the moment we had to change the cancelled flights and rush home)

Ivan presented our new results using the MEMS-based bistable flow sensor, developed together with the team of Prof. Slava Krylov.

As you can see in the figure, it's a tunable sensor with adjustable sensitivity, e.g., from 0 to 60 m/s and then 60 to 120 m/s. We do not lose sensitivity and have an enormous dynamic range.
